After finalizing our CAD designs, we have completed the fabrication of our robot's chassis (left). A chassis is described as the skeleton of the robot. It will hold all the essential parts of the robot together. For our 2018 game, FIRST POWER UP, our robot's chassis will hold the following subsystems: Cube intake, Cube manipulator, and Climber. In this chassis, we are including many specific components such as single speed gearboxes and Talon SRXes Victor SPXes (below). These SRXes and SPXes will allow our robot to attain a better capability to follow an autonomous path. They integrate sensory information for the robot to respond to. CIMs are also ultilized and they are high torque motors whose power will combine with gearboxes to provide a 12.75:1 gear reduction for added torque. Together, they have the capability to withstand much shock and can allow our robots to push other robots. This can be very beneficial in the scenario that our team would need to play defense. With the chassis complete, we are excited to attach the subsystems in the upcoming weeks!
