Week 0:

On February 21, 2026, Team 4909 competed at the Week 0 event in Nashua, New Hampshire. We finished 2nd overall, gained valuable experience, and showcased our completed robot. Over the course of the event, we played 10 matches and ended with a 7-3-0 win-to-loss record.
We also served as Alliance Captain, partnering with Team 1768 (Nashoba Robotics), Team 9644 (NEIA Robotics), and Team 5962 (perSEVERE). Together, we worked hard throughout the competition and pushed for every win.
Overall, Week 0 was a strong start and helped confirm that both our team and our robot are running smoothly. With that experience, we are ready for Week 1:The Minuteman District Competition (March 7-8th).

Over the past two weeks, the software team has focused on troubleshooting battery performance to keep the robot running reliably. From their perspective, measuring power usage has been especially important because it provides a clearer understanding of battery life and highlights opportunities to extend runtime.

From the mechanical side, testing different charging methods, lead lengths, and battery options has been critical to the goal of sustaining power throughout operation. This work also supports improving the robot’s efficiency while keeping it compliant with requirements.

Operations:

Meanwhile, the operations team has been promoting the Minuteman District Event hosted by the team. The name “Minuteman” has been featured across the community through bulletin boards and newsletters. With outreach season approaching, preparation is in full swing to share STEAM with the community.

Minutman District Event:

The Minuteman District Event is a regional competition hosted by the Billerica Bionics at the BMHS. FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) teams come together from across the New England area to begin our competition season here. But as we race, as we compete, we push our minds too. The goal of the FIRST program is to cultivate the innovators, engineers, and brilliant minds of the future. So come join us March 7th through 8th to celebrate the spirit of STEAM, as the young minds push beyond

Week 5 Build season

Week 5 is wrapping up, and we could not be more excited. Our robots are prepped and competition-ready, and we are eager to see them perform their best as the season begins.

Software:

The software team is working to make sure our robot is ready for the Week 0 pre-season event next Saturday. Our goal is for the software to reliably intake and empty a full hopper from anywhere, so the robot can perform consistently, no matter where it starts on the field. Along with the hopper workflow, we also need to assure the robot is fully functioning before we run the field. Over the next few days, we will focus on testing, fixing issues quickly, and validating that every key function works end-to-end. By event day, we want to feel confident that the robot can run the full hopper cycle smoothly and that our software checks catch problems early.

Operations:

Operations has focused on ensuring our communication and promotional efforts are ready for the start of the competition season, training new members, and creating merchandise to sell at competitions. To strengthen our social media presence, the team is building its social media management skills by using SocialBee to streamline and schedule posts across LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram. Thank you, SocialBee, for your generous sponsorship and for empowering Team4909 with a smart tool to manage our content more effectively. Along with improved weekly posting, Operations is also adding a midweek video post to boost engagement and share even more team content with our community.

Mechanical:

This week, the mechanical team has been hard at work building a new hopper to ensure our robot can reliably fit under the “trench.” They have also been developing a climber so we are fully tested, functional, and prepared for Week 0 and beyond. Throughout the process, the focus has been on improving reliability and making sure both mechanisms integrate smoothly with the rest of the robot. Overall, it has been a productive week with steady progress toward a stronger, competition-ready machine.

Week 5 focused on getting the robot ready, with the hopper and climber nearly complete and software working on a reliable full hopper cycle. With the Week 0 competition coming up, we will take these final days to test the robot, address any issues efficiently, and ensure the robot works smoothly on event day.

Week 4 has been a rousing success on multiple fronts. The team made significant progress across hardware, software, and design, bringing us closer to our competition goals.

Mechanical:

The mechanical team has been on a roll with continuous improvements. They installed a new motor and completed V4 of the robot. Now they're moving onto bigger and better things. The team has kicked off drive practice sessions to fine-tune performance and handling. They've also begun work on a new intake system to improve efficiency collecting fuel while ensuring evaluate  design.

Software:

The software team successfully resolved a key issue by debugging the camera system. Development has begun on autonomous functionality to improve robot control. The team is also focusing on shooting and driving mechanics. The ultimate goal is to efficiently fill the entire and empty it completely during a match.

Operations:

The Operations Team had a productive week continuing preparations for the New England District Minuteman Event, which will take place at Billerica Memorial High School on March 7–8. This week, the team designed a promotional flyer for the event using Canva and began planning the design and printing of T-shirts to be sold at Minuteman. These efforts will help promote the event and support the team. With drive practice now underway, Operations has started filming the robot in action to create a robot reveal video, highlighting the team’s progress and sharing their excitement as the season continues.

Finally, the 4909 Robotics Team has been doing great this week, solving problems such as debugging the camera and installing the motor, and is on the right track for a good future.
